Forty-five.
I'm not going to lie to you and tell you this number doesn't hit different. There's something about standing at the threshold of 45 that forces a reckoning. Not the midlife crisis kind. The kind where you finally see yourself clearly—shadows and all.
This self-portrait? This is me. Not the curated version. Not the "I have it all together" facade. This is the truth.
The Most Vulnerable Era
I've spent decades behind the camera, helping others tell their stories. But this year—this is the year I turn the lens inward. And I'm not the only one who needs this.
Every woman I know is drowning. In the daily grind. In the expectations. In the relentless pressure to be everything to everyone while somehow maintaining the illusion that we're not struggling.
But here's what I know: we are still art.
Even when we're exhausted. Even when we're broken. Even when we can't see our own worth.
Why I'm Photographing Women This Year
This year, I'm committing to something different. I want to photograph more women—not for Instagram, not for validation, but for themselves.
Because I've seen what happens when a woman sees herself truly captured in both shadow and light. I've watched women break down in tears not because they're upset, but because they finally see what I see:
Beauty. Strength. Resilience. Art.
The Shadow Work
The shadows in this portrait aren't hiding anything. They're revealing everything.
They're the sleepless nights. The worries about our kids. The dreams we've put on hold. The parts of ourselves we've been taught to shrink, hide, or apologize for.
But shadows also create depth. They make the light matter. They tell the truth about what it costs to be a woman in this world.
And you know what? That's beautiful too.
You Are Not Your Busy
I know you're busy. I know you're tired. I know you're carrying more than anyone should have to carry alone.
But I also know this:
You are a beautiful being.
You are art in motion.
Your story matters.
Your face, your body, your scars, your strength—these are not flaws. They are testimony.
A Promise
This year, I'm making a promise to myself and to every woman who reads this:
I will help you see yourself the way I see you. I will create space for you to be vulnerable, powerful, broken, and whole—all at once. I will photograph you not as you think you should look, but as you are.
Because the world needs to see more women who are unafraid to be seen in their truth.
If You're Ready
If you're a woman who's ready to see yourself differently, I want to hear from you. Not for a portfolio piece. Not for social media. But for you.
Because turning 45 has taught me one thing: time is precious. And I want to spend mine helping women see what I see when I look at them.
You are art.
You are beautiful.
You are worthy of being seen.
